Dear Yuletide Writer
Dear Yuletide Writer,
This is my first time participating in Yuletide, so if there's more you need to know just - I think this is what the rules say to do - let the mods know to have me add it to the letter. I'll be more than happy to do so! I wasn't really sure what else to put in the fandom specific areas because I do want to give you, my writer, room to do what you're inspired to do while still giving you ideas, so if I haven't given you enough then I definitely want to know.
In the most general terms, what I would like is something that in the end gives you good feelings. I love hurt/comfort and I am okay with a lot of hurt before the comfort, as long as the comfort is at the very least proportional. I like a lot of tropey things, too - both in fandoms where tropes have been beaten to death and where they haven't been explored that much. I really enjoy family feels, whether the people involved are actually family or not (so like 'real' family as well as found family), and team bonding feels.
Tropes I am particularly fond of: AUs, tending towards fantasy or scifi AUs. Hurt/comfort, which I have said before and will probably say again. I have a weakness for the stuck somewhere and have to survive together tropes - in a cabin, in the woods, in a cave, in the middle of an ice storm, whatever. If you want to go way weird with getting stuck somewhere you could even do time travel, lol. I also like tropes that hint towards death but don't include it in the end - one character has to pretend to be dead and no one can know they are actually alive, one character thinks another character is dead because they saw them get badly hurt and lost contact, the character actually DID die and came back, whatever. It needs to have a happy ending though, please. Amnesia is always fun, too, but again - happy ending please.
Tropes I'm not usually fond of: I don't tend to like high school or college AUs. Infidelity. Gender/sex swap/bend. Crack fic. Angst without resolution.
I am fine with there not being any smut at all, but if you do write smut I have a few preferences: I like it when there's a bit of kink - bondage, power dynamics, praise kink, dirty talk kink, dom/sub stuff are particular favorites of mine.
My sex DNWs are: A/O, scat, watersports, vore, vomit, ageplay/underage, incest. But like I said, if you don't want to write sex feel free not to.
On to specific fandom stuff. I was the original requests late at night and it slipped my mind that the same person would get all three forms, lol. But I guess putting my DNWs on each one is good - some people might be okay with some things in some fandoms but not others.

Do Not Want: No incest. I also would rather not see Nikko/Vincent (tbh I don't really ship Nikko with anyone but I am fine reading him with characters closer to his own age.). Please no (permanent) death, no angst without resolution, no A/B/O or sex/gender bending. No crack fic either, please.
Likes: I know only a few of the characters were nominated, but if you would like to include the others I would be happy to see them. I didn't put Calvin in the character request box because I would also be perfectly happy not to see him, too. The one ship I do really like in this fandom (outside of the canon Solomon/Haley) is Solomon/Vincent so if you would like to include that I would appreciate it, but of course that's up to you. I love the mentoring/vaguely paternal relationship that Vincent has with Nikko so if that could be incorporated I would appreciate it. I like hurt/comfort, family-feels sorts of things, thought-you-were-dead-but-you-weren't, I really like reading/watching Nikko get hurt and the others fussing over him.
Possible prompts, but if anything I say here or in the letter inspires you differently then run with it:
- Something post canon to do with Nikko's powers.
- A random artifact hunt
- Training day
- What does the team get up to on their day off?
- So it's 2016, four years after the 2012 apocalypse was supposed to happen. What's going on with them now?
Also, if you find yourself not having quite so much focus on one of the three characters that I put in the actual character request box, that's okay - I know that sometimes things end up working out oddly. I prefer the main focus to remain on Nikko, but even then that's just a little bit of a preference. I'm sure if you get an idea that leads you in a different direction then following that would be much better than trying to force anything.

Likes: I love seeing them with kids. I can't remember right now (and am doing this in a hurry so I can't really look it up) if Jenny was actually their daughter in this title or which one of the titles they were in it was. But whatever - just showing them as being good with kids doesn't mean it has to be with Jenny, if that's even something you want to do. I love hurt/comfort and you can do a LOT do them and I'll still be happy as long as it's not permanent - in fact one of my favorite hurt/comfort sub-tropes is the you-died-or-I-thought-you-did-but-now-you're-back thing. I also just ... idk I really love them being them! (and yes I do realize that Apollo and Midnighter are not automatically a package deal... but still.) I sort of also really love cutesy domestic fluff with these two just as much as I love watching them kick ass.
Possible prompts, but if anything I say here or in the letter inspires you differently then run with it:
- Apollo and Midnighter going and kicking bad guy ass together
- Apollo and Midnighter on a date together
- idk maybe they're trying to have a nice evening and everything goes poorly
- Bad guys being dicks and kidnapping someone/using somebody's weakness and the other moving heaven and earth to get the kidnapped half of the pair back

Because the Steve Orlando comic is going on now and then there's the original, and I think that when DC first bought Wildstorm there may have even been another version of them - I remember Martian Manhunter being on the team? - and comic book stuff being the way comic book stuff s, if you want to blend comic canon then go right ahead. If you prefer a Rebirth-ish married Apollo and Midnighter who kick ass with Nightwing on the weekends and have adopted Jenny, I would have fun with that. The New 52 version of Midnighter is on the tag set list after all.
I also am okay with Midnighter and Apollo either sleeping with or being in a relationship of some kind with a third party. I know a lot of the fandom ships Apollo/Midnighter/Nightwing, so he's fine, but it might also be interesting to see them with another man that isn't Nightwing.
If you end up picking this fandom to write a fic for and also do a complete AU, then I would prefer that they keep their powers in some way - if it's a fantasy AU maybe one is magical and the other has a magical item or something - because I always find it interesting to see how people reshape those basic building blocks to fit other story frameworks.

Likes: Hurt/comfort. I love seeing poor Jake get hurt. I only added Jake and Captain Holt to the character requests because those are the ones I really want, but I wouldn't say no to something more ensemble, and I would LOVE something that had some Kevin/Holt. I really ship Jake/Amy, but I also headcanon him as bi, so if you wanted to include that somehow that would be something I'd like, too. I'm also a huge fan of the father/son thing Jake and Holt have, so if that is focused on a little that'd be awesome.
Possible prompts, but if anything I say here or in the letter inspires you differently then run with it:
- If you wanted to include the Jake as bi idea (either if it's pre-Jake/Amy becoming canon or there's one of his exes around or whatever) maybe something to do with Jake talking to Holt about it and getting acceptance he never would have gotten from his dad?
- hurt!Jake and worried!whoever-else-is-in-the-fic, either if he's hurt while doing police work or hurt because Jake is Jake and he did something dumb or he got sick or whatever
- maybe a case comes up that is related to a case Holt closed when he was a detective, so we get to see Jake and Holt working together a lot

I don't really have much else to say here. Except that this fandom in particular is one that I adore the found family feels for, and so if you do a fic for this fandom I would like it if that is one of the focuses of the fic.
